Ann Summers Banned Advert....Why is everything banned this week?!?!

- What you are listening to is the newly banned advert from Ann Summers. It's a radio advert so there is nothing to actually see. But it's another advert to be banned in the past week.

Radio advertising Clearance Center (RACC) banned the advert which to be fair, is a little bit much for the radio!

But Ann Summers are appealing the decision. Which by the time it's appealed will leave the advert useless. It's a Halloween advert for sexy costumes. Halloween is a week today.

Someone from Ann Summers had this to say to a semi interested Journalist : "We have never been a brand to hold back on our sexy, confident and fearless image.

"Ann Summers endeavours to encourage conversation and erase the taboo around openly discussing sex.

"For 25 years we have prided ourselves on delivering a message of sexual confidence and empowerment to women in Britain.

"We accept our responsibility to communicate our brand in a responsible manner, and have worked to deliver an advert that allows us to truly express our brand while communicating intelligently and relevantly to our adult Ann Summers audience.

"We strive to deliver the Ann Summers message in a playful and tongue-in-cheek way, never taking the brand, or ourselves, too seriously.

"We believe that Britons are broad-minded and would understand the topical and cheeky nature of our advert."

Then Jacqueline Gold (Owner and Creator of Ann Summers and epic legend in general) added : "We have appealed the decision made by the RACC and would love to know what the great British public think.

"We are proud of our brand that always sparks debate and we hope this gets people talking about sex in a positive way."

A spokesman for the RACC said the ad breached advertising regulations governing taste and offence according to acceptable general standards.

"The ad contains fairly overt sexual references in terms of sound effects," said the spokesman. "We believed that it was too strong for broadcast on commercial radio, notwithstanding timing conditions."

*FACT : Incase anyone is wondering why the IRA sent Gold bullets : Basically when she went to set up the O Connell street store she was met with major opposition. Including the IRA. Who apparently don't like Rampant Rabbits or discounted lube. So they did what you would do in that situation. The totally normal response : They popped a few bullets in the post. This would have been back in Catholic Ireland's day (before sex was all mainstream) But Gold opened the store anyway and now it is one of the top performing stores in the UK and Ireland. They went on to open branches in Limerick and Cork.
